Two young survivors of the Aurora movie theater shooting have tied the knot — on the anniversary of the Colorado massacre that left 12 dead and more than 70 injured.
Both had been injured in the shooting — Han was shot twice in the leg, and Davis suffered minor shrapnel wounds.
But the couple wanted to reclaim the date — July 20 — as a happier one.
Davis also said they wanted to show that “bad things happen, but people can keep going,”.
At the time of the shooting, the pair were dating, but Han told ABC that he was already planning to propose.
“When the theater shooting happened, that’s when I was like, I really need to do this because you don’t know what’s going to happen after tomorrow,” he said.
In a USA Today video of the ceremony, the two celebrated being alive and being together.
“Now we’re married,” Han said. “And happy and excited.”
