HT_heavnlydonuts_ml_130716_16x9_608A gesture by a customer at Heav’nly Donuts in Amesbury, Massachusetts triggered a chain reaction on Saturday morning that led to a lot of smiles.

The staff began counting cars as the driver paid for the order of the customer behind them, after getting theirs free.

“It was the best twelve dollars I ever spent,” said the unemployed woman who took the free drinks but then started the chain as the second in line.

The chain finally stopped around 11 a.m., because there was no car behind the 55th customer.

While Heav’nly Donuts’ feat is admirable, it’s still far from the 228-order stretch in a Winnipeg Tim Hortons in Manitoba, Canada, on Dec. 21, 2012.
