Union Hose’ 9-Run Rally to Ground Gunlockes

Union Hose 15 Gunlocke’s 5

In local Little League baseball action on Saturday (May 11)
morning, Union Hose paid a visit to Victory Park in Wayland where they
erupted for nine big runs in their final 3 at bats to bury Gunlocke’s by
a 15-5 final. The swapped hands a couple times early in the game before
the Hosers took over for good. Union Hose plated a run in the first but
the home team regained the advantage scoring a trio of tallies of their
own in the bottom half, as Trevor Shotwell’s round tripper ignited the
rally. Bryce Quibell & Dan Kaszuba also clubbed triples in the inning as
well. Jim Sullivan’s Dansville club returned the favor by plating three
more runs in the top of the 2nd to take the lead for good in the game.
In the 4th, 5th & 6th the Hosers would put multiple runs up in each
frame to win it while squelching a last inning effort by the Furniture
Makers to seal the deal.
For Union Hose Zach Douglas worked three innings on the hill,
followed by Bryce Quibell & Tanner Dettman who would finish up. On the
offensive side Bryce Quibell went 3-3 with a pair of triples, an
inside-the-park homer and scored five runs. Dan Kaszuba was 3-5 with a
pair of rbis. Trevor Shotwell 3-4 with a homer and a double with three
runs batted in. Zach Douglas 2-4 with three runs scored and an rbi.
Other contributors included Caleb Wolfe 1-1 (two runs and three stolen
bases), Elijiah Wood with an rbi and Josh Blackmon scoring two runs and
stole a base.
Gunlockes was paced by Colton Wood’s 2-3 with two runs scored, an
rbi and a stolen base. Also adding hits for the Furniture Makers were
Cody Candie (run scored), Thomas Coates (double, rbi and run), Gavin
McCormick (rbi, run, stolen base), Joe Schumacher (run), and Garrett
Kelledy also stole a base for Gunlocke’s.
