State rules on Genesee County Jail inmates death

The New York State Commission of Corrections has ruled an inmate at the Genesee County Jail died because staff ignored his medication needs.

That investigation began after Nikko Gambino died in July of 2011. The report shows Gambino was on medications to treat his addiction to heroin and pain pills but he did not receive the medication as prescribed.

The commission says he died after staff ignored serious signs of withdrawal.
