The Dansville Fire Dept., EMS and Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a house fire at the Tom and Lori VanDurme residence on Cemetary Road in North Dansville Thursday morning shortly before 1:45 a.m.
When emrgency services arrived on location they found the residence fully engulfed in fire. Officials say thanks to working smoke detectors the couple and their five children were able to escape without injury.
Although the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, investigators believe the fire started at an outside furnace/boiler and then spread to the residence.
Officials at the Clara Barton Chapter #1 of the American Red Cross in Dansville remains in contact with the family who is staying with family members for the time being. A drop off has been established for the VanDurme Family at the McFadden Coffee House on Main Street in Dansville for anyone wishing to leave gift cards such as gas cards, food cards, department store gift cards etc.
Also called to the scene were the Livingston County Fire Coordinators Office, West Sparta, Sparta, Springwater, Perkinsville, Wayland, Canaseraga and the South Dansville Fire Departments.
Fire Fighters from Dansville remained on scene past 11:00 o’clock this morning. The house is a total loss
