Wayland-Cohocton     1               Letchworth             0

With the re-naming of the Sports Complex in Cohocton, the Fall
Foliage Festival, a tribute to Sgt. Devin Snyder, & other activities
taking place, the Wayland-Cohocton boys soccer team went about its
business, & without the services of  3 starters, Coach Matt Bondgren’s
team slipped past Letchworth in high school soccer action by a final
score of 1-0.  Both teams battled the cold temperatures & played great
defense. The first half remained scoreless, & the 2nd 40 minutes were
looking to match the first, but the Golden Eagles would break through.
With about 14 minutes left to go in the game, Donny Martell took the
ball took the ball into the corner & then fed Sean Pebbles coming from
the left & fired the ball past the keeper for the lone score of the
night. It would stand up however, as Wayland-Cohocton shut out the
visiting Indians the rest of the way to come away with a 1-0 victory at
home. Shots in the game were pretty even as Golden Eagles goalie Connell
Landino had 10 saves & the shutout for the maroon & gold who improved to
7-4-1. Way-Coh hosts Wellsville on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 9) at the
Ellsworth R. Tripp Sports Complex starting at 5pm.
