The Avoca Central School District Building is no longer on lock down.

According the superintendent, he was notified by New York State Police that  a man hunt was going on near property that was near the school.

Troopers say they were chasing a man who had stolen a car.  When he stopped the vehicle, the man jumped out and then ran into the woods near the school.

The students remained inside the school building until the State Police advised the superintendent it was for everyone to leave the building. No other information has been released at this time. We will provide an update as details become available
