Hornell     28            Dansville     26

The Dansville senior Mustangs visited the Maple City on Saturday (Oct. 6) night in Community Youth Football League action. The fans were on the edge of their seats in the contest that saw the Red Raiders hang on in the final seconds for a slim 28-26 win over the Dansville entry.
Both teams seemed to have their defenses & offenses in high gear. Both were certainly “fired up” for the game under the lights on “the rug” at Maple City Park. With Hornell in the lead 28-20 very late in the game, but Mustangs drove the length of the field to score a touchdown to set up a potential tie with a 2-point conversion. Dansville failed to get into the end zone on the play which left Hornell sweating out a tought 28-26 victory.  The heart & soul of the Mustang players gave Hornell a little something to think about in the future. Dansville coach Chris Mapes noted, ” we had a tough loss & 4 penalties at the wrong times. The boys playe hard & gave a strong effort despite playing in Hornell.” The Mustangs visit Geneseo this coming Sunday (Oct. 14th).
